After 15 years building a specialty coffee company with operations on three continents, Gellert turned his efforts to the troubled mortgage industry. Since founding Axia in 2007, Gellert has focused on recruiting talent and directing Axia’s mission to build a sustainable company that helps families fulfill their dreams of homeownership and improve the quality of life in the communities Axia serves. As testimony to that In 2016, Axia became the first 100% employee owned mortgage banking in the U.S. Under his leadership, Axia has developed an innovative production platform for mortgage professionals which builds lasting, trusting relationships, and supports the entrepreneurial spirit while upholding what is in the long-term best interest of their clients.
Gellert and his wife Elizabeth raise their ten children on Mercer Island, WA. In his spare time, Gellert is an avid football player (“real football” AKA soccer) and sits on the board of several nonprofits and universities which focus on bettering our culture through education around the dignity of every human person.
